If you don't know the facts, you might not realize that the fuzzy pink blanket wrapped around your new baby may have been created with more than ten different chemical processes.
Cleveland, Ohio (PRWEB) July 25, 2012
Cherub's Blanket, LLC has released a white paper revealing the chemical processes used to produce conventional cotton items, cotton baby blankets in particular. Consumers need to be more aware of how cotton is produced so they can make informed decisions when it comes to choosing products for their children.
Cherub's Blanket owner, Mary Farrell, knew it was important to put this information together for her customers as well as the general public. She explains, "If you don't know the facts, you might not realize that the fuzzy pink blanket wrapped around your new baby may have been created with more than ten different chemical processes." From seed to sewing, conventional cotton is subject to pesticides, herbicides, fertilizers, defoliants, scouring agents, bleaching mordants, dyes, and finishes. The white paper details what these different processes are for, the chemicals used, and the many health concerns associated with them. Conditions from developmental defects to autism to cancer are reported with these toxins.
Choosing products made of organic cotton, undyed and naturally colored cotton in particular, ensures less contact with potentially harmful substances and a healthier environment for babies. "A lot of our customers," says Farrell, "understand that organic cotton is better for the environment, but they are not sure how it's better for their baby. We put together this white paper to answer that question."
