CSEE achieves superior scores on both Math and English Language Arts State exams

Data released this week by the New York State Department of Education shows that more than 82 percent of all students at The Charter School of Educational Excellence passed this year’s Math exam and more than 78 percent passed the state English Language Arts (ELA) test. The school’s high scores were more than 30 percentage points higher than the Yonkers average in both Math and ELA.

“CSEE students, teachers and staff worked tirelessly all year, and these outstanding test scores are the result,” said Catalina Castillo, Principal of the Charter School of Educational Excellence. “I couldn't be prouder of our students and faculty.”

In collaboration with teachers, staff, administration, and in partnership with Victory Education Partners, CSEE not only outperformed its own district, but also outpaced NY State averages:

  •     On ELA testing this year, CSEE students outpaced their peers’ scores by an average of 21 percentage points across NY State, and 30 percentage points in Yonkers.
  •     On Math testing this year, CSEE students surpassed their peers’ scores by an average of 17 percentage points across NY State, and 36 percentage points in Yonkers.
  •     CSEE Sixth-graders scored particularly well, with 92.5 percent passing the math exam and 94.3 percent passing the ELA test.

“In all testing grades, 3-through-8, CSEE students got the job done,” said Victory’s Managing Director of Academics, Mary Cordero. “As a mission-driven organization, it is always a proud moment for Victory Education Partners when we see our partner school achieve such success. We congratulate the students, teachers and staff on their enormous accomplishments.”

Located in Yonkers, CSEE was founded in 2005 and serves more than 550 students in grades K-8.
