Our guests are increasingly seeking ways to make a difference by giving back so we decided to take the Bedside Reading program to a new level by giving guests the option to pay it forward with a donation to The Fund for Public Schools.
(PRWEB) July 26, 2012
Since 2005, Mandarin Oriental, New York has delighted guests with a selection of complimentary Bedside Reading books in all its rooms and suites. This year, in an effort to pay it forward in support of The Fund for Public Schools, the hotel’s Bedside Reading card provides website information and a scan-able QR code to facilitate making a charitable donation to support New York City’s 1.1 million public school students. The Fund for Public Schools is a nonprofit organization that facilitates strategic public-private partnerships to support New York City’s public schools. This includes supporting initiatives to upgrade public school libraries in New York City’s low-income neighborhoods with new books and up-to-date technology so that students have the necessary tools to help them learn, expand their horizons, and follow their dreams.
"For several years we’ve provided our guests with the unique amenity of complimentary books to enjoy," states Sharmila Tandon, Director of Rooms for Mandarin Oriental, New York. "Our guests are increasingly seeking ways to make a difference by giving back so we decided to take the Bedside Reading program to a new level by giving guests the option to pay it forward with a donation to The Fund for Public Schools, an organization making an impactful difference in the lives of New York City students by improving access to books and technology.”
