Provider Benchmarking... allows healthcare organizations to add a new dimension to analytics by introducing a tool that enables them to see how their physicians perform against pre-determined benchmarks.

Wellcentive, an industry leader in population health management, announces the release of new Provider Benchmarking capabilities within its Advance™ Outcomes Manager solution. Using customizable benchmarks, physicians can now compare their individual performance against same-specialty peers, their practice group, or their network. The new feature enables providers to focus on the most at-risk or resource-intensive patients to improve both patient care and business performance. Via an extremely user-friendly dashboard, providers have the ability to set alerts and benchmark goals for their specified patient populations, and then track quality performance against those metrics.

Population health management has traditionally focused primarily on the patient population. Provider Benchmarking, a unique feature only available with Wellcentive’s Advance Outcomes Manager, allows healthcare organizations to add a new dimension to analytics by introducing a tool that enables them to see how their physicians perform against pre-determined benchmarks.

As Accountable Care Organizations (ACO) and other providers continue to align and share risk with public and private payers, they seek metrics to identify top performers in their networks. Provider Benchmarking delivers the analytical tools to help them reach those objectives. Unlike other solutions that tend to be focused on the needs of payers, Provider Benchmarking is physician-facing, and designed to present reliable insights into provider performance, compare that performance against their peer group, and ultimately improve patient care.

According to Paul Taylor, M.D., Wellcentive Chief Medical Officer, the new Provider Benchmarking feature appeals to the mindset of physicians. “Whether it is solving a patient’s health issue or comparing their performance against their peers, physicians are extremely competitive,” he said. “Visibility into how they are doing against a variety of benchmarks is extremely important. Our newest tool delivers this information in a very user-friendly dashboard with which they can compare their performance in several ways. It is a great motivational tool that will ultimately help change behavior and improve outcomes.”

The provider benchmarking dashboard delivers a true “apples-to-apples” comparison by enabling providers to sort queries by practice specialty. Providers can then review performance against peers in both their individual practice as well as the entire network.

Added Dr. Taylor, “In their continuing efforts to improve patient care while maintaining financial efficiency, providers need the right analytics to have deep insight into performance. As more ACOs and other providers seek to build a network of top performers, they will come to rely on tools like our Provider Benchmarking feature to deliver the data they need to reach their objectives.”
