Charlotte, North Carolina (PRWEB) July 25, 2012
The idea behind Doing My Part is simple, people around the United States donate $3 and the donation is put to work changing the lives of others. Currently, the hero’s $3 will be going towards giving 150 homeless youth in Charlotte, North Carolina, new shoes, socks, a footbath and a message of help. The event will be taking place on August 11th after months of preparation by founder Mike Spencer and the rest of the Doing My Part team. This has been a collaborative effort between Doing My Part, Samaritan’s Feet and the Salvation Army Center of Hope.
Teaming up with Samaritan’s Feet helps both of the companies fulfill their overarching goals. According to Doing My Part's Mike Spencer, “Samaritan's Feet is a non-profit organization started by Manny Ohonme dedicated to putting 10,000,000 (10 Million) pairs of shoes on 10,000,000 kids feet in the next 10 years.” Doing My Part will help them bring shoes to Charlotte, North Carolina’s children in need at their August event. Samaritan’s Feet will be donating the majority of the goods needed to make sure that the event goes off without a hitch.
Doing My Part will also be teaming up with the Salvation Army Center of Hope in Charlotte, North Carolina. The children who will receive the new shoes, socks, footbath and message of hope all live at the Center of Hope. Since it is the summer, the majority of these children have limited access to food or water. The Salvation Army Center of Hope has been set up to make sure that these children have their basic needs fulfilled.
Spencer went on to state that, “40 Doing My Part Street Team Volunteers will have a bucket of clean water and sponge or rag, soap, clean socks and shoes corresponding to each individual child.“ The heroes at home will be able to watch a feed of the project facility and see where their $3 has been used on the Doing My Part website. Without the volunteers, Samaritan’s Feet, and the Salvation Army Center of Hope, this event would be unable to happen.
Doing My Part is a non-profit organization with the mission of "transforming the way the world gives back". Doing My Part gives anyone the chance to become a Hero through a minimal $3 automatic monthly donation.
