The work truck’s 48” wheelbase will allow it to navigate narrow pathways.

These new trucks are designed to help keep urban parks green and clean, and Jyco’s TPV seals are doing the same for the environment in general.

Jyco Sealing Technologies announced today that it is producing environmentally friendly weathersealing systems for a new line of compact electric work trucks designed to haul up to 2000 pounds of mulch, sand, plants and construction materials at a time while navigating narrow paths and tight spaces typical of urban parks.

The two-passenger stake bed and flatbed trucks will be street legal, completely electric powered, and capable of speeds up to 30 mph (48 km). The specialty vehicles are being assembled in Quebec.

“These new trucks are designed to help keep urban parks green and clean, and Jyco’s TPV seals are doing the same for the environment in general,” explains John McGovern, manager of Jyco’s Industrial Products Division. “TPV is much more economical than traditional EPDM rubber to manufacture in smaller runs, and infinitely better environmentally.”

Jyco has designed and engineered glass run channels, door seals and under hood engine compartment seals for the narrow wheel-based vehicle. The systems, all of which are being made with environmentally friendly thermoplastic vulcanizates (TPV), are being manufactured at Jyco’s North American production plant in Sherbrooke, Quebec.

Greener technology is nothing new to Jyco. The company has been a pioneer in TPV design, engineering and processing since its founding in 2000. Their manufacturing process has proven to virtually eliminate the VOCs and particulate emissions associated with EPDM production. TPV scrap is 100% recyclable and directly reprocessable during manufacturing.

In 2007, Jyco introduced JyGreen, landmark technology to recycle tires into high performance extruded TPV sealing systems.

The Ann Arbor-based company takes a green approach to its own operations worldwide, which now include locations in Canada, China, Japan, Mexico and the United States. Jyco has developed corporate policies for LEED standards to guide all renovations, expansions and new plant construction, even for their facilities in low-cost offshore countries where tight environmental standards do not apply. The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System is the United States’ accepted benchmark for the design, construction, and operation of high performance green buildings.

Jyco is the only supplier to have earned a Corporate TS/ISO/16949/9000 certification for Design, Testing, and Manufacturing of TPV seals.
