Great results need committed support, and we are committed to helping all our clients achieve new levels of safety and efficiency with our products and services.

Swisslog, a leading provider of automated materials transport and medication management solutions for hospitals, today announced that all 17 members of the 2012 U.S News & World Report Honor Roll of the nation’s best hospitals are its customers.

U.S. News evaluated almost 5,000 hospitals to compile its Best Hospitals list. Of those, just 17 made the prestigious Honor Roll. A place on the Honor Roll is reserved for medical centers that demonstrate unusually high expertise across multiple specialties, scoring at or near the top in at least six of 16 adult specialties. Many evaluation criteria including death rates, patient safety and reputation among more than 10,000 specialists went into the rankings.

All 17 Honor Roll hospitals have Swisslog’s TransLogic pneumatic tube system (PTS), used to whisk blood samples, medicines and other small items throughout the facility. New to the Honor Roll this year is Indiana University Health, which uses its Swisslog PTS to link several buildings with a central laboratory.

Two of the Honor Roll hospitals – University of California at San Francisco (UCSF) Medical Center and University of Pennsylvania Hospital – rely on Swisslog’s pharmacy automation equipment to improve the efficiency and safety of their drug supply chain.

U.S. News publishes its annual ranking of the best hospitals “to help guide patients who need high-stakes care because of the complexity or difficulty of their condition or procedure,” according to the magazine.

“We are pleased to be a partner with the finest hospitals in the nation,” said Mike Hoganson, president of Swisslog Healthcare Solutions North America. “We are particularly pleased these ‘best-of-the-best’ healthcare providers recognize the important role logistics, drug management and customer service play in achieving world-class clinical results. Great results need committed support, and we are committed to helping all our clients achieve new levels of safety and efficiency with our products and services.”
