Those looking for an escape from the hot summer heat can visit Keystone, Colorado for it's 16th annual Bluegrass and Beer Festival, one of the most popular events of the summer at the resort. Festival goers can look forward to cool mountain temperatures, live bluegrass music across three different stages and sample all the beer they'd like from over 30 different breweries, from Colorado and beyond. August temperatures in Keystone average at about 75 degrees, with sunny blue skies and cooler nights, making it a quick and easy getaway from the city summer heat.
The annual summer festival is in its sixteenth year and continues to become more and more popular with locals and visitors alike every year. The music is free all weekend and those looking to sample beers from breweries like the Dillon Dam Brewery, Grand Teton Brewing Company, Great Divide Brewing Company, Left Hand Brewing Company, New Belgium Brewing, Odell Brewing Company, Oskar Blues Brewing Company, The Grand Lake Brewing Company, Tommyknocker Brewery, Twisted Pine Brewing Company and over twenty other breweries can purchase a single day or weekend pass to the event, which includes an official sampling mug. Individual beverages such as beer and wine may also be purchased in the beer garden. Visitors can also sample gourmet down-home cookin' from various food stands at the event, available for purchase.
The 2012 music line-up is one of the best yet and includes some well-known bluegrass bands such as Head for the Hills, Oakhurst, the Farewell Drifters, Darrell Scott, Tim O’Brien, Casey Driessen, Haunted Wind Chimes, Henhouse Prowlers, Dead Winter Carpenters, Frank Solivan & Dirty Kitchen, Town Mountain, Jeff Scroggins & Colorado, the Grinz and more. The festival runs from noon until five p.m. each day, with late night shows on Friday and Saturday nights scheduled at Warren Station, with separate admission fees for the late night events. The energy over the weekend is amazing, with happy twangy tunes floating across the village as the sun shines, frothy beers flow, and people stamp their feet as they take in the surrounding views, which are nothing short of incredible- you won't want to miss this event.
