Corona based Dollar Self Storage Teams with Charity Storage to Help Raise Money for Local and National Charities

Charity Storage, a non-profit organization dedicated to raising money for charities across the country through special self storage auctions, is pleased to announce that the Dollar Self Storage facility located at 1065 E. 3rd Street in Corona, CA, raised $700 at a Charity Storage auction held July 11. The charity tapped by the facility to receive the lion’s share of the funds raised is The Young Americans, a national non-profit performing arts and educational company.

“The auction was a hit,” said Maria Smith, Manager of the Dollar Self Storage facility in Corona. “Several bidders were eager to win this unit because of the nice items that had been donated by our tenants, customers, friends and business partners. We would like to thank everyone who donated items and we look forward to our next auction! We are delighted to be involved with Charity Storage and believe that this is just the beginning of good things to come!"

Charity Storage was created when Watkins saw the popularity of self storage auctions grow and realized that the self storage industry could give back to society through special auctions whose entire proceeds would go to local and national charities. The net proceeds from the sale of each unit at a Charity Storage auction are split three ways – with 60 percent going to the charities chosen by the self storage facility holding the auction, 30 percent to Kure It Cancer Research and 10 percent to the Self Storage Association Foundation Scholarship program.

The Young Americans was founded in 1962 by Milton C. Anderson and is credited with creating the very popular "glee" and "show-choir" concepts in the early 60's. The Young Americans are the oldest and largest youth music advocacy group in the world whose main focus is to help strengthen music education programs in schools and communities. To date, the group has grown into 250 cast members (ages16-23) and has taken its love of music and performing all over the world with its International Music Outreach Tours.
