“Speaking at GS1 Connect presents a rare opportunity for industry leaders to improve how business is done by sharing their expertise with a very engaged community of their peers and trading partners”
Lawrenceville, NJ (PRWEB) July 26, 2012
GS1 US today said it is accepting applications from industry leaders interested in presenting at GS1 Connect 2013, being held June 10-13 at the JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort.
The information standards organization’s annual conference features several dozen sessions covering six key industries: Apparel, Consumer Packaged Goods, Foodservice, Fresh Foods, General Merchandise/Hardlines, and Healthcare.
Topics should relate to the successful implementation, use, or adoption of GS1 Standards in at least one of the following areas: inventory and asset management; data quality, management, and governance; traceability and safety; business-to-consumer (B2C) and mobile commerce; and product or location identification.
Details can be found at http://www.gs1us.org/resources/gs1-connect/program#num1.
GS1 Connect, formerly known as U Connect and held every year since 2000, is organized by the Community Advisory Board (CAB), a planning committee comprising industry end-users of the GS1 System and GS1 Standards experts.
“Speaking at GS1 Connect presents a rare opportunity for industry leaders to improve how business is done by sharing their expertise with a very engaged community of their peers and trading partners,” said GS1 Connect Conference Director Terry Erman. “The goal of the conference is to bring together people and solutions to supply chain problems, and conference speakers have a critical role in shaping and communicating those solutions.”
GS1 Connect 2012 (http://www.gs1us.org/resources/gs1-connect/2012-conference-highlights) attracted 1,400 professionals representing all points of the supply chain to the Aria Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, and featured a keynote from Twitter Co-Founder Biz Stone. Major companies in several industries attended and participated, including 17 of the top 25 companies in the annual STORES Top 100 Retailers report.
Attendees pointed to educational sessions, industry initiative updates, case studies, best practices, and networking opportunities as key reasons for attending the conference.
“What a great conference GS1 Connect 2012 was,” said John Poss, vendor compliance manager at Ace Hardware. “Where else does one get to spend three full days to attend educational workshops, have the ability to directly discuss global supply chain issues with experts, and have a variety of sessions presented by industry trade professionals? We are going to see if more individuals from our company can attend this annual conference.”
The opportunity to have both formal and informal face-to-face meetings with trading partners, solution providers, and GS1 US experts enabled attendees to develop more effective, standards-based solutions to their business process challenges. This will continue at GS1 Connect 2013.
Applications to present at GS1 Connect 2013 must be submitted using the online form and received by Aug. 31, 2012. To learn more about the Call for Presentations and how you can get involved with GS1 Connect 2013, visit http://www.gs1connect.org/GetInvolved.
