Amazing colour and talent sets a unique destiny for otherwise ordinary fish

Born into a family of grey-coloured Pacific ocean fish, a fish named Monty proves himself a treasured exception to the rule. Born a bright pink, Sabiha Rauf Janjua’s picture book protagonist eases into a fable whose metaphorical basis (bright colour=unusual intelligence) children can easily relate to. Monty The Pink Fish is a neatly laid out picture book tale teaching children that unique traits do come with their own problems, responsibilities, and lifestyles suited to such traits.

The most obvious problem Monty has is his colour. His pinkness is so bright it hurts for others to look at him. His family, being closest to him, tries to remedy this by going to the doctors. The first one cannot find anything wrong with him. A second doctor is consulted. By this time the family gets tired of going to and fro in medical consultations, they have found a third doctor for Monty. He tells them that Monty’s brightness is related to his intelligence and he recommends that Monty be sent to Dover University, the fish academy of the Atlantic Ocean.

Monty is a very intelligent fish. His IQ level grew on a daily basis. His classmates at school took to wearing shades in his presence. In the end, Monty’s parents decide to send him to Dover University. After four years at the academy, he is able to go back to his family, as pink as ever, but now ready to serve his community. Monty The Pink Fish became a very good doctor. Sabiha Rauf’s four upcoming books which will be released around October of this year are: Henrietta The Hen And Penny The Penquin, The Three Lost Kittens, The Orange Canary and The Puppy Sisters.

This book will be featured at the 2012 Frankfurt Book Fair in Frankfurt, Germany, on October 10-14, 2012.
