Greensboro, NC (PRWEB) July 25, 2012
ESG Energy, a Greensboro-based provider of utility management, energy use reduction and green building certification services, was recently named one of the Top 300 Small Businesses of the South by Business Leader Media.
The annual competition accepted nominations for the best small businesses in the Triad region of NC and eight additional Southern regions – Nashville, Charlotte, Jacksonville, Atlanta, Miami, Triangle, Nashville and Memphis. To qualify, companies must employ fewer than 100 employees, generate a significant portion of its business locally, and have been in business for five or more years.
The 2012 winners were chosen based on three main categories: revenue growth, business achievement, and community achievement. For revenue growth, Business Leader looked at both revenue growth over the past year and previous five years. Business achievement included the number of current employees, number of years in business, the company’s impact on its local economy and industry-specific honors and awards the nominated companies have received in the past.
ESG Energy has been honored with Leadership in Housing Awards in 2009, 2010 and 2011 by the United States Environmental Protection Agency for its work in promoting energy-efficient housing. The firm also received a grant in 2011 through the U.S. Department of Energy to promote energy and water conservation in affordable housing.
"We are honored to be recognized as one the top small businesses in the South and a Top Ten business in the Triad region of North Carolina," said Craig Whittaker, President of ESG Energy. "North Carolina is a great place to do business and we envision a viable and sustainable economy in the Triad. I’d like to thank our employees, clients and Business Leader for this honor."
