you could move from London to Bristol and keep the same London number
(PRWEB UK) 28 July 2012
Windsor Telecom has today announced that existing 01 and 02 telephone numbers (conventional land-line numbers in other words) can now be ported onto their system.
What this means is that a firm moving from say Bridgend to Brighton can now take their local Bridgend number with them and direct all calls to their new Brighton number.
Also, by putting their numbers onto the Windsor system there are other benefits as Windsor Telecom CEO Neil Sherring explains:
“The new technology means that local, geographic numbers can be programmed to behave like non-geographic numbers like 0800 and 0845. The number gets disconnected from the local exchange and put onto our virtual system and can be made to point wherever you want it to direct call traffic.
“It means businesses need not worry when they move premises. You could move from London to Bristol and still keep the same London number (directing all calls to the new Bristol office).
“Businesses can also save money because you can set up a virtual, off-site PBX on the system so you don't need to install and run a hardware PBX on your premises.
“And there are a load of extra features you can integrate like; call queueing (so you can hold callers on the line if all lines are busy), call whisper (the receiver gets told what number the caller rang), voicemail to email and the ability to programme the number to divert to different numbers at different times of day,”
As well as the ability to port an existing land-line number onto a virtual system the new system also allows any UK business to also buy multiple UK land-line numbers to give the appearance of having a network of regional offices.
Only a small number of UK businesses have cottoned on to this ability to move their numbers around. As word spreads we expect a lot more to.
