More entrepreneurs will soon have the opportunity to learn the ins and outs of starting and growing a business through Kauffman FastTrac thanks to several new organizations joining the program’s network of affiliates. Approximately 200 organizations around the world now deliver the FastTrac suite of courses to aspiring and existing entrepreneurs.
Among the affiliates that have signed or renewed agreements with Kauffman FastTrac since mid-year are academic institutions in Ireland and Turkey, a major hospital group and a private university in the Kansas City area, a snack food distributor outside Dallas, a biomedicine incubator in Akron, Ohio, and a regional economic development agency in southwestern Louisiana.
“Research consistently indicates that entrepreneurs and their startups are the primary drivers of economic growth and new jobs in today’s economy,” said Alana Muller, president of Kauffman FastTrac. “As the leading provider of entrepreneurship curricula around the world, Kauffman FastTrac partners with its affiliates worldwide to train individuals and give them the business skills, insights, tools, resources and network to start and grow successful companies.”
To illustrate the impact and expanding reach of its entrepreneurship education programs, Kauffman FastTrac has just released a new infographic.
Further evidence of the increased attention being paid to entrepreneurship, Muller joined Washington, D.C. Mayor Vincent Gray earlier this month as he publicly announced the launch of FastTrac D.C. The District of Columbia’s Department of Small and Local Business Development will administer the new program and plans to graduate 260 local entrepreneurs over the next 18 months.
“I’m committed to building a new economy in the District of Columbia with strong, resilient small business that grow, succeed and create jobs,” Mayor Gray said. “By launching the FastTrac D.C. program, we will help entrepreneurs foster the skills and forge the relationships they need to do just that.”
Scott Carson, Kauffman FastTrac vice president of business development, said the FastTrac suite of programs has strong applicability beyond the traditional affiliate network of business incubators and small business development agencies.
“Increasingly we see new types of organizations, even franchisers and major corporations, recognizing the value to be gained by instilling an entrepreneurial mindset and skills in business owners and leaders at all levels,” Carson said. “After taking a 30-hour FastTrac course, individuals are not only better equipped to make critical business decisions, they are also inspired to help their own companies grow.”
