Harmony Central, the leading web site for musicians, has again set the standard for trade show coverage by offering a unique mix of product and artist performance videos, a home page featuring comprehensive news coverage, a dedicated discussion forum, and daily video updates.
Two days after the close of Summer NAMM 2012, Harmony Central’s video team had created and posted 73 videos for their Harmony Central YouTube channel, while “The Official 2012 Summer NAMM Photo Thread,” with over 700 photos from the show floor, had accumulated well over 10,000 page views—and shows no signs of stopping.
Senior Editor Jon Chappell and Associate Editor Phil O’Keefe scoured the show floor to capture hours of video footage, then sent dailies to Editor in Chief Craig Anderton, who handled editing in his post-production suite. Furthermore, this was the first show where all footage was captured in HD and presented in 16:9 widescreen format.
As Kirit Sarvaiya, Harmony Central’s publisher, stated: “Harmony Central is like the Reuters of this industry—disseminating the latest news, opinion, and information to the world. The phenomenal job our team did in posting high-quality, relevant content gave the Harmony Central community a window into the NAMM experience, as well as a preview of gear and trends to come. No other site came close to the depth, quality, and timeliness of Harmony Central’s coverage.”
What the industry says about Harmony Central’s show coverage:
Fishman: “Once again, Harmony Central provided the most comprehensive video coverage of the NAMM Show. These videos are a great asset to companies like Fishman. HC captures what’s new and topical and always seems to turn this around quickly and effectively. Clearly, this is what continues to make HC an invaluable resource for gear enthusiasts. It’s like “turning on the news” and feeling like you’re right there at NAMM.”
PreSonus: “At PreSonus, we greatly appreciate Harmony Central’s ability to deliver thorough and accurate coverage of the music-tech industry, identify what is newsworthy, and explain why it’s newsworthy. That the Harmony Central team delivers this valuable information so quickly is little short of amazing. When we want to know what's going on at an important industry trade show, we watch Harmony Central first.”
Korg/Vox/Blackstar/Lag/HK Audio: “For many years, we’ve worked with the folks at Harmony Central at NAMM shows, and their visits to our booth have become something we look forward to. Their timely videos help provide consumers with a comprehensive first look at new, newsworthy products. Jon and Craig do a wonderful job at offering musicians who aren’t able to attend NAMM a nice glimpse into what goes on there. They essentially not only drive traffic to the HC site during NAMM time, but also to partner sites where viewers can learn more, and ultimately guide them to the Musician’s Friend site when they are ready to purchase.”
