Dr. Milton Owens, a leading weight loss surgeon in Southern California, has launched a new website, http://www.DrMiltOwens.com. The new site will add to the knowledge base of his clinics’ website, http://www.CoastalObesity.com. It is Dr. Owens’ ardent belief that patients should have all necessary information available to them and know as much about their surgeon as possible before surgery. His new website will give patients and prospective patients that needed information.
Dr. Owens said of his surgery practice that, “I am a surgeon first, but the true joy comes from seeing my patients succeed over the long term. A message from a patient who says, ‘thanks for saving my life’ makes it all worthwhile.”
Weight loss surgery is not the same as most surgeries. In fact, bariatric surgery changes the lives of patients in more ways than one. Still, long term success is determined by maintaining the weight loss after the surgery. This component needs to be understood by surgeons and patients alike. Dr. Owens and his staff take great pride in their post-operative work. With their support, patients have seen a great rate of successful weight loss as well as weight loss maintenance.
On his new website, more in-depth information about Dr. Owens and his philosophy as a surgeon are presented to visitors. A patient care social network will also be made available to provide the latest information on weight loss surgery.
Dr. Owens has always looked for ways to educate patients. He launched what was the first bariatric surgery website in 1997. He said, “In today’s world, we need to provide information to patients now. It should be available at their fingertips at a moment’s notice. Our goal is to support our patients in a more personalized manner. I consider post-op care and support to be as important as pre-op and the surgery itself. All three elements are critical to long-term success. Interactivity is key.”
In addition to the new website, Dr. Owens can be found onTwitter @drmiltowens. His Facebook page is Dr. Milton Owens, and his new blog Dr. Milt’s Blog is at http://blog.drmiltowens.com/.
