Robert I. Evans and Avrum D. Lapin, Directors of the Philadelphia fundraising firm The EHL Consulting Group, joined over 50 participants at the Giving Institute’s exclusive Summer Symposium, hosted at the Stein Eriksen Lodge in Park City, Utah, from July 19-22, 2012.
This year’s Summer Symposium included informative educational sessions, panel discussions and topical roundtables on fundraising trends and research, the use of social networking in nonprofit fundraising, and the future state of philanthropy, among others. Featured speakers included the following:
- Martin West - Partner, XGAP Consulting of Australia
- Dr. Una Osili - Director of Research, Center on Philanthropy at Indiana University
- Carol Lewis - CEO, Philanthropy Northwest
Robert I. Evans, Founder and Managing Director of EHL Consulting, moderated an unusual conversation with both local and national philanthropists, who shared their thoughts on the current state of the philanthropic landscape and discussed recent trends in the nonprofit community. He specifically talked about serving on nonprofit boards and the responsibilities incumbent on board members relating to fundraising and the philanthropic arena.
“The conversation was an enormous success,” Evans detailed. “Convening with outspoken and passionate experts has given me – and everyone else at the Summer Symposium --a fresh outlook on our work at the firm.”
“Continuing dialogue is always important,” Lapin affirmed. “Learning from each other is key.”
