I have known Paul Bury for many years and watched closely the way in which his teams have managed to successfully represent both public and private-side clients

Rudy Garza, who recently retired as Assistant City Manager for the City of Austin, has formed an engineering design and consulting firm based in Austin, Texas.
Garza brings over 20 years of experience managing and overseeing public works projects. In his role with the City of Austin the past 12 years, Mr. Garza was directly responsible for the project management of over $1.5 billion in infrastructure projects including the $508 million Water Treatment Plant 4. The complexities of getting private and public projects completed will not be foreign to Garza in his new role.
Mr. Garza has been actively involved in the growth of mentor/protégé business models and their involvement in the development process since 2006. His passion for infrastructure development and the impact minority owned businesses have in the process ultimately defined his path to forming GarzaBury.
As he contemplated building a business in the private sector, Rudy Garza sought a mentor protégé relationship with one of the most successful design and consulting firms in Texas – Bury+Partners.
“I have known Paul Bury for many years and watched closely the way in which his teams have managed to successfully represent both public and private-side clients,” Garza said. “Bury+Partners approach to infrastructure and development has been one of respect and effective project execution.”
GarzaBury is not the first mentor protégé relationship to have been supported by Bury+Partners In 2009, Saenz+Bury was launched by Heidi Cisneros and has met with great success including the selection as a teaming partner on the $1.8 billion Tarrant Regional Water District Integrated Pipeline that will move 350 MGD of water from Lake Palestine to the DFW metroplex. GarzaBury has signed a letter of intent to purchase Saenz+Bury.
“Rudy Garza has had a storied career in city management over the years. His knowledge of how to get critical infrastructure projects financed and built is second to none.” said Paul Bury III, P.E., President/CEO of Bury+Partners. “It will be fun to help him launch his new career and see the value he brings to the infrastructure and development process for cities across Texas.”
