Advertising Age recognizes Nebraska agency as tops in Midwest region

This award is further validation of what we’ve always believed here at Bailey Lauerman: that the size of an agency’s ideas should trump the size of its workforce.

Bailey Lauerman has won Advertising Age’s 2012 Midwest Region Small Agency of the Year Award.

The award, presented by Advertising Age and Creativity, recognizes “the power of nimble, creative and independently minded” agencies that are majority-independent owned with 150 or fewer employees.

“In our 42-year history, this stands out as one of our greatest honors,” said Jim Lauerman, Bailey Lauerman’s chairman.

"The creative ideas and the strategic thinking we are seeing out of the small agency community is highly impressive," said Ad Age Agency Editor Rupal Parekh, one of the judges. "The work these shops are doing is original, unexpected and above all has a huge impact on their clients' bottom lines. I'd stack up any of the shops on our list this year against big agencies in terms of quality of output. They are really leveling the playing field."

Award winners are selected from hundreds of U.S. and international agencies that are majority-independent owned, or at least 51 percent privately-held, in the annual competition now in its fourth year. The editorial staff from Advertising Age and Creativity judged entrants in three size categories: one to 10 people, 11 to 75 people, and 76 to 150 people. At an awards show Thursday, July 26, in Minneapolis, Minn., Advertising Age presented gold and silver awards in the following categories: Agency of the Year-Overall; Campaign of the Year-Overall; and Agency of the Year by region - Southeast, Southwest, Midwest, West and Northeast. Winners in three size categories, best agency culture and an international winner also were announced.
