Online book buying company MyBookBuyer.com announces their bi-annual ongoing scholarship opportunity for college students to win a Fall 2012 scholarship prize of $1,250 is now open. It was created to allow the winning student to purchase textbooks for a year. The “Textbooks for a Year” essay contest was first established in 2009 with the purpose of aiding educational opportunities for students who may be in need of financial assistance. Since its inception, it has been extremely well received by students and faculty staff from many colleges and universities throughout the country. It has since then been routinely conducted twice every year, in the Spring and in the Fall. Past winners and winning essays are available for viewing at http://www.mybookbuyer.com/textbooks-for-a-year-winners.htm
Essay submissions are currently being accepted and the contest is open to active full-time college students who are U.S. Citizens or legal residents, 18 years of age and older. The new essay topic for the Fall 2012 contest asks the question, “What prominent person would you like to interview and why? The student may choose to write about someone who is living, deceased or even a fictional character. The entry should be between 750 to 1250 words and must be submitted by using the MyBookBuyer.com Fall 2012 Scholarship Application Form at their website. The rules also stipulate that each essay entrant select one book to assist in supporting their position and that the essay be received on or before December 15, 2012 (midnight, P.S.T.). The winning essay will be selected by an impartial in-house committee and winner will be announced on or by January 21, 2013. Eligible students who are interested in participating should visit the company website for more scholarship contest details.
With more than ten years in the textbook buyback business, MyBookBuyer is very familiar with the financial burden the high cost of textbooks places on students. “Education has always been a treasured privilege that I have gratefully accepted, but have never taken for granted”, says founder Mr. Michael Der. “I have seen many changes in the book business and it has been very disconcerting for me to see how the prices of textbooks have been spiraling out of control. I know that for some students, it may even create a financial barrier which will delay their pursuit of an education. This is my way of giving back and trying to help.”
MyBookBuyer allows anyone with a computer to sell textbooks online for cash. Anyone seeking more information on the Textbooks for a Year Scholarship essay contest may do so by visiting the company webpage at http://www.mybookbuyer.com/textbooks-for-a-year-scholarship.htm .
