The 2012 Olympics have brought back a surge of extreme dieters due to youngsters wishing to tone up and look like the athletes they see competing. Extreme diets are an ever-growing problem and can produce remarkable results but are not sustainable in the long run. Tim Allan came across Differ Diets, a company which has found a solution to people following the wrong diet and they have enabled him to fulfil his goal of working as a male fashion model.

I managed to lose 7kg in a couple of weeks, but it was not just fat that I burnt off, when I went to the gym I discovered that I had also lost considerable muscle mass and strength.

A study by Differ Diets show that over 90% of extreme dieters do not succeed in achieving and maintaining their dieting goals in the long run. What is more, these diets can often have detrimental health consequences, such as lack of energy and loss of muscle mass.

The 2012 Olympics has inspired many youngsters to lose weight and tone up to be like the athletes they see competing. However, these youngsters generally have one main problem- they just want a quick fix. Health experts are now worried that these quick fixes will prove harmful to the young, both physically and mentally.

Tim Allan, a 22 year old student from London, followed a low carbohydrate diet and saw quick short term results.

“I chose a diet that allowed for very quick weight loss so that I looked perfect for this summer. I followed claims from authors on the internet that I could experience quick results in a matter of weeks.”

However, a few weeks later he came to realise the flaws of the diet and discovered how it was not the right diet for him.

“I managed to lose 7kg in a couple of weeks, but it was not just fat that I burnt off, when I went to the gym I discovered that I had also lost considerable muscle mass and strength. Because the diet was so hard to follow, I ended up eating unhealthily after just a few weeks.”

Dr AduHadi explains how yo-yo dieting can affect the body: “Good carbohydrates are essential to the long term maintenance of weight loss. A diet high in protein is essential for gym-goers but the key to long term success is to consume a balanced and achievable diet.”

Tim found a solution to his problem when he used Differ Diets, an online service that allows a dieter to be matched according to his or her individual weight loss needs and lifestyle.

Not only did he manage to tone up his belly, but he has also put on lean muscle by following his individually tailored diet in combination with regular exercise.

“I am so happy that I found Differ Diets. Having used their service I’ve found a diet that fits my lifestyle and is easy to maintain in the long run. Without them, I would not be where I am right now, having a photo shoot for an online fashion store.”
