MaplesFS, a leading independent global fund services and fiduciary services provider, and its Chief Information Officer, Tyler Kim, have been named to Institutional Investor's 2012 Tech 50 list.

Our technological innovation has largely been driven by our clients' needs and ideas. We are fortunate to work with such a qualified group of thought leaders in the hedge fund and pension fund industry.

The publication's annual ranking highlights those firms and individuals who lead the financial services industry in technological achievement and innovation.

In particular, MaplesFS was recognised for augmenting its US$36b fund administration business, Maples Fund Services, with "an evolving array of bespoke institutional services," including middle office outsourcing and risk reporting that helped fuel a 40 percent increase in fund services revenue this year.

The article noted that MaplesFS' technology strategy is to partner with best-in-class technology vendors, and "build solutions you can't buy." It also noted the company's "tech build-out" in Montreal has professionals who are as much “capital markets industry experts as they are technologists.”

The Tech 50 ranking was compiled by editors and staff of Institutional Investor, with nominations and input from industry participants and experts. The ranking evaluates achievements and contributions over the course of a career, scope and complexity of responsibilities, influence and leadership inside and outside one's organisation and pure technological innovation.

"We are very honoured to be named in the Institutional Investor Tech 50," says Kim. "Our technological innovation has largely been driven by our clients' needs and ideas. We are fortunate to work with such a qualified group of thought leaders in the hedge fund and pension fund industry."
