Get Educated compiled the cost rankings by objectively comparing tuition costs and online learning fees at 16 online master’s degree programs offered by 15 accredited graduate schools of library science. The Get Educated rankings reveal the 10 most affordable online library science degrees nationwide.

Universities surveyed for the rankings were regionally accredited with library science degree accreditation by the American Library Association (ALA). The national online learning survey is based on Fall 2011 cost data, which is specific to each school’s online learning option as opposed to their residential or campus-based degree program.

Highlights of the national survey of online library science masters degrees:

--Average cost of a library science degree online: $21,087

--Most affordable: East Carolina University (North Carolina), $7,371 for an Online Master’s of Library Science (North Carolina Residents)

--Most costly: Drexel University (Pennsylvania), $45,000 for an Online Master’s of Science in Library & Information Science
