Vital Support Systems announces the availability of ReliaCloud™ in Iowa. It’s Vital Support System’s first new product launch since being acquired by Telephone and Data Systems Inc. last month.

ReliaCloud, as the name suggests, is a reliable, enterprise-class IT Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) platform designed for resource intense applications and databases that require a secure and compliant operational network.

Today’s economy thrives on data. Businesses need to manage, protect and utilize data and data components to be successful in today’s marketplace. Vital Support Systems is stepping in to move the region forward and bring a new type of cloud to Iowa.

“This cloud might not make it rain, but Iowa’s growing business community needed more options for data management to help them be successful and drive economic growth,” says Jeff Sparling, president of Vital. “These options will soon be available to businesses in Minnesota and Wisconsin, too.”

ReliaCloud is housed in Vital’s Tier III data center in Des Moines. Racks of newly installed Cisco, EMC and VMware equipment are ready for use in both public, private and hybrid cloud applications.

The enterprise cloud product was created to support companies who want to be in the cloud, but also want to be close to their data. According to Sparling, “IT Managers in Iowa can now move their data close to home, to a regional, enterprise-class environment and sleep better at night.”

The Iowa data center will soon be connected to TDS HMS data centers (VISI and TEAM) in Minnesota and Wisconsin. This will provide a unique cloud option for Midwest businesses in need of disaster recovery capabilities with an interconnected cloud. Recently, TDS HMS President, Bill Megan, explained the new service in an interview with leading industry publication CRN.

“Risks in today’s data driven economy are huge. Downtime is not an option and crisis avoidance is a must for IT managers worldwide,” adds Sparling. “We understand. That’s why we are bringing ReliaCloud to the Midwest.”
