OHK Medical Devices, the producer of the HemaClear® single-use, sterile tourniquet device, announced today that National Capital Region Medical has begun utilizing HemaClear® for bloodless orthopedic procedures. Orthopedic patients at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and Fort Belvoir Community Hospital will now have HemaClear® readily available to treat military orthopaedic patients. This is a significant milestone, as HemaClear, a standard of care in bloodless orthopedic surgery, strives to broaden its use to both military hospitals and in MASH units within battle zones. Military physicians can guarantee the sterility of the device, and no longer need to rely on an electronic box for a reliable occlusion.
HemaClear is currently focused on the introduction of the product to military physicians, and tactical medical units. “It is humbling to see that veterans are receiving top-notch care from physicians,” said Grant Castor, National Sales Manager of OHK Medical Devices. “HemaClear® enables physicians to perform procedures bloodless more proximally, thus reducing the amount of blood loss, increasing the visibility for the physician, and contributing to a better outcome for the patient.”
HemaClear® is the original developer of sterile, single use surgical tourniquet technology that has been adopted as the new standard of care in orthopedic surgery across North America and Europe. By enabling bloodless procedures, reducing infection rates, and increasing the surgical field, the technology makes surgery easier to perform, cheaper to administer, and altogether safer for patients. Healthcare professionals are able to apply the tourniquet in seconds, eliminating obsolete equipment, saving as much as 15 minutes of critical OR setup time, and cutting $300 on every procedure.
In fact, HemaClear is so revolutionary, it represents the single greatest advance in tourniquet technology since the Esmarch bandage. HemaClear® has been proven successful and medically safe worldwide in over 500,000 surgical cases, both in the operating room and in the field, including disaster-struck areas across the world.
Founded in 1999 by an international team of medical specialists and engineers, HemaClear is privately held and based in Haifa, Israel, with offices in 30 countries serving over 2000 operating rooms worldwide. For more information about HemaClear, visit http://www.hemaclear.com
