"Mr. Flynn joins the Walmart Board of Directors at a time when Associates, communities and shareholders are calling for change. OUR Walmart, which is fighting to improve workplace conditions, rein in executive pay and better the company for workers, communities and investors, would welcome the opportunity to share our thoughts, insights and experiences with Mr. Flynn.
“For 24 years I have worked at Walmart. My co-workers and I have witnessed countless changes in our company—many to the detriment of Walmart’s customers, employees, and our company’s reputation. Walmart is facing numerous challenges at this time: recent allegations of a major bribery scandal and international cover-up, political and community protest inhibiting our ability to expand into new, urban markets, low employee morale and declining customer service as a result of inadequate staffing levels and pay, and doing business with suppliers accused of using forced labor.”
Jackie Goebel has worked at Walmart in Kenosha, WI for 24 years, and is one of the four associate-shareholders who introduced a resolution calling for transparency in executive pay at the last Walmart annual shareholder meeting in June. She is one of the founding members of OUR Walmart, the associate-led organization that aims to ensure every Walmart employee is treated with respect, raise employee working standards, and improve customer service at Walmart stores nationwide.
