Security system monitoring hardware/software released as open-source project

Phantom Data Services, LLC announces the release of its PhantomLink alarm self-monitoring solution as an open-source project. Any electronics hobbyist can now access full circuit schematic diagrams and source code to allow them to monitor their home and/or vehicle security systems via web, email, and text messages.

The PhantomLink device is designed as a quick and easy way to access alarm system status over the web. The device connects to the siren output of a typical security system panel and publishes this information to an external webserver. To eliminate the need to run additional wiring to the alarm panel, the physical connection between the PhantomLink device and the internet is provided over standard 802.11 Wi-Fi. Alarm status messages can be decoded by the webserver and logged into a database that can be queried at any time from a web-based dashboard. The webserver can also monitor changes in the alarm status and automatically send an email or text message to the homeowner.
