ETA International Features Wireless Communications Workshops at the 2012 Education Forum

Join ETA International at the 2012 Education Forum, a world-class technical education conference, in Greencastle, Indiana this October 15-19. Offering hands-on workshops and presentations by industry professionals, it is the ideal venue for educators and technicians to join together to explore new opportunities and form valuable business relationships.

Several workshops will focus on wireless communications technology and a wide spectrum of other technologies.

Ira Wiesenfeld, PE, CETsr, will present “Test and Measurement 101.” Topics to be covered in the course are Systems and Fundamentals, Test and Measurements – Using the Instrumentation and more.

John Baldwin , CETsr, will offer “Cellular Wireless, How We Got Where We Are,” which includes the history of cellular and how systems migrated to what we use today for portable voice, text, and data; the public view of what wireless does and how the provider sees it; the changing game, what works and what doesn’t, handsets then and now; confusion with wireless terminology and the many choices of technology mix for users to consider; and what a cellular field technician does today and so much more.

Tom Dover, FOI, will present “Antenna Testing and the Importance of PIM Testing in Wireless Networks.” Antenna systems have become critical failure points for wireless networks. As more systems are placed into service, the need to increase the quality and performance of the antenna system has taken on new importance.

Don Huston, Bird Technologies, will offer workshops on line sweeping and spectrum analysis.

In addition, ETA, provider of R56 certification, is bringing the Motorola R56 training course to the fall Education Forum. During the Education Forum, technicians will be able to attend the R56 training course at an incredibly reduced price of $279 for ETA members and $299 for non-members.
The R56 workshop will include a field trip to a nearby FCC tower. Following completion of the workshop attendees will have the option to sit for the ETA Communication Site Installer (R56) certification exam. The R56 certification exam fee of $100 is not included in the workshop registration fee.

Registrants for the R56 training will receive complimentary lunch daily and admission to the Networking Reception, Texas Hold’em Tournament, and ETA Annual Awards Banquet.
