Kickstarter Launches Return of Classic Film Noir Movie "Trouble Is My Business" Through Crowdsourcing

After a successful first Kickstarter fundraising campaign in May which allowed noir filmmakers to shoot seventeen minutes of their new black and white movie, Trouble Is My Business, the production team at Lumen Actus is showing backers the beginning of the movie they backed and that Kickstarter really works. This new way of going to the audience for a genre like film noir shows a quality film can live without studio financing as they return to finish the film through more crowd sourcing.

Kickstarter works to revive a classic film genre with the on-going crowd funding campaign of Trouble Is My Business, a dark tale of love and betrayal, told in the classic style of film noir. The total budget of the film is only $250,000 which considering seventeen minutes have already been filmed is a very reasonable proposition for a crowd funded production of this scope and quality.

The production team decided to do crowdsourcing funding in chunks and stages the first being a successful Kickstarter campaign raising double what they had asked for to do the opening of the story and the current one which hopes to raise more than $10,000.

The current goal is to raise $10,000 or more as first money in towards the total budget of $250,000 for the full feature film starring Brittney Powell. Thomas Konkle, David Beeler and an incredible cast including actors from the noir world like Lauren Bacall, Rutger Hauer and Catherine Deneuve all of whom can be approached once the total amount is raised.

By raising funds on Kickstarter, they are not only generating money needed to produce the rest of the picture, but creating a compelling argument that there is an audience who wants to see not only film noir, but our particular story as well. People voting with their wallets is the type of endorsement that speaks loudly with film distributors and financiers. They are essentially just pre-buying the film providing money now when we need it. Backers get a tangible good, with special access to people and the film, and more rewards to thank them. Backers have access no one else will be able to get unless they decide to back the film before the campaign ends Saturday at 11:30pm on August 18, 2012.

Director Thomas Konkle says, "Our previous successful campaign that allowed us to shoot the opening. The goal for that campaign was to generate funds to shoot the opening scenes of our film. A private investor matched what we raised on Kickstarter and, with the help of a professional crew who believed in the project sufficiently to defer their salaries, we shot the opening of the movie on RED Scarlet cameras. We have made good on the promise of that first campaign."
