Attorney Ibrahim E. Khawaja, the founder of the Khawaja Law Firm, PLLC has been recognized as one of Houston’s Top Lawyers two years in a row for 2011 and 2012.
Ibrahim Elias Khawaja, a native of Houston, practices criminal defense in the Houston-Sugar Land-Baytown metropolitan area. He graduated magna cum laude with a bachelors of arts degree from the University of St. Thomas and earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Houston Law Center. Before opening his own criminal defense practice, he worked as a prosecutor for Harris County, where he was quickly recognized for his exceptional work inside and outside of the courtroom and subsequently was promoted to the Chief Prosecutor for Harris County.
During his tenure as a prosecutor for the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, attorney Khawaja personally handled thousands of criminal cases including: domestic violence, theft, arson, forgery, credit card abuse, and home invasion, aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon, countless DWI cases, and also serious cases involving capital murder. There is no comparison to the amount of insight, experience and knowledge gained from his time working as a Chief Prosecutor of County Criminal Court of Law #6.
Today, attorney Khawaja uses his prosecutor’s perspective when defending his own clients in criminal cases and when giving his cases an edge over the prosecution. In addition to being included in the selection of Houston’s Top Lawyers for 2012 and 2011, he was also recognized as a Top Professional in 2011 by H Texas Magazine. “I love what I do,” Mr. Khawaja says. “I want to help my clients stay out of jail, get back to work and, more importantly, back to living life.”
As one of Houston’s Top Lawyers for 2012 and 2011, attorney Ibrahim Khawaja handles all types of misdemeanor and felony cases in Texas ranging from simple assault or battery to DWI, theft crimes, drug crimes, white collar crimes and serious felony cases involving manslaughter and murder. With all of his cases, he brings his unique insight as a former prosecutor to the table; this “inside knowledge” enables him to be an equally formidable adversary in negotiations and in the courtroom in front of a jury.
