TROY Group, Inc., a Worldwide leader in Secure On-Demand Printing Solutions, announces a new line of magnetic ink character recognition (MICR) printers and security printers based on the HP LaserJet Pro 400 series printers. TROY’s new line of MICR printers and Security printers replace the TROY 2055 line and provide built-in features that help secure the on-demand document printing process and reduce the risk of check fraud.
TROY Security Printers, such as the M401dn security printer, include integrated paper tray locks and security shielding on the back of the paper trays, assuring the highest level of protection against paper and document theft. When combined with TROY Security Toner, a specialized toner formulation that turns red when alteration is attempted, TROY security printers can help businesses achieve an industry-leading level of document security.
The TROY MICR M401dn offers a solution for in-house check printing. Under a special agreement with HP, TROY offers HP based MICR printers that produce the special character sets necessary to create a negotiable check. This eliminates the need for expensive preprinted check stock as well as the reconciliation issues that can occur with check printing mistakes.
Both printers provide an output speed of 35 pages per minute, a duty cycle of 50,000 pages and ship with a standard yield toner cartridge; the MICR model ships with a patented TROY MICR Toner Secure cartridge. The dn model includes duplex capabilities and a flip-up color touch screen control panel. In addition, each printer utilizes the built-in capabilities of HP print drivers, providing the ability to map to specific trays and the ability to release print jobs utilizing PIN authentication.
Larry Landtiser, Executive Vice President and General Manager, TROY Group, Inc. discussed the new line of MICR printers and security printers. “The new TROY 401dn printers are ideal for small workgroup printing, delivering advances in productivity, manageability and security,” he said. “The TROY 401dn Security Printer was designed for environments requiring controlled access to prescription paper, official certificates and other preprinted security forms while the TROY MICR 401dn offers a solution for small businesses to streamline workflows and reduce costs.”
The ongoing increase in energy costs and rising importance of taking a leadership role in the environment is creating new demand for innovation in business environments. HP introduced low-melt toner, requiring less energy by reducing the fusing temperature. TROY also developed a security toner and MICR toner, designed for use in secure document applications, which performs reliably with HP’s reduced fuser temperature utilizing less energy.
As an HP Solutions Business Partner, TROY is the only company authorized by HP to enhance HP LaserJet printers and consumables for use in secure printing workflows. Only TROY Security printers are certified by HP for quality and reliability.
