Afton Chemical Corporation was named a Union Pacific Railroad (UPR) Pinnacle Award Winner for Chemical Transportation Safety. The award honors the company as a leader in transportation safety by reaching a rate of “zero non-accident releases” in the shipping of dangerous chemical materials. This award recognizes Afton’s proactive efforts to continuously improve the reliability and safety of its products, and the ways in which they are handled.

In a post on UPR’s website, the company said, "Chemical transportation safety is critical and this is Union Pacific's opportunity to acknowledge and thank our customers for their continuing efforts to eliminate chemical releases from rail cars.”

The UNP began this awards program in 1996 as an initiative to increase chemical transportation safety as rail transport is the safest mode of chemical travel. Afton Chemical desires to safely and reliably supply its products to customers and focuses on sharing its knowledge and strategies with them.

Afton outlines these strategies and policies on its Logistics & Supply Solutions page. A few highlights include a two hour response time, 24 hour CSR, and programs such as C-TPAT. These policies, combined with an emphasis on relationships, provide customers with peace of mind in the areas of supply and transportation.
