Mark your calendars: Talented and inspiring local role model Elissa McCracken, a.k.a., Miss Ohio, will be attending and singing at the Veterans Day celebration on Monday, November 12, 2012 at Thompson Plumbing, Heating and Cooling in Cincinnati, Ohio.
McCracken, 20, was crowned with the coveted Miss Ohio title on June 23, 2012, beating out 24 other contestants from the state of Ohio after wowing the crowd with her impressive piano talent.
Moments after winning, an excited McCracken stated that she is looking forward to performing her Miss Ohio duties, traveling, meeting new people, and getting the word out about her anti-cyber bullying platform. She has been invited to speak with student groups about her own painful experiences with cyber-bullying and steps students can take to become bully-free.
Elisa is a native of Waynesburg, Pennsylvania and a fourth-year pharmacy student at Ohio Northern University at Ada, where she is pursuing her doctorate in pharmacy. At ONU, Elissa serves as Vice President of Membership at the Zeta Kappa Chapter of Delta Zeta Sorority; she is also a member of the Kappa Psi pharmaceutical fraternity, where she served as Chair of Graduate Relations for two years.
As Miss Ohio, McCracken received a $10,000 scholarship, sponsored by Newman Technology, to continue her education. The Miss America Organization is among the nation’s leading achievement programs and the world’s largest provider of scholarship assistance for young women.
So what else does Miss Ohio have planned for the near-future? She’ll go on to represent the state of Ohio at the 86th Miss America Pageant on January 12, 2013 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The event will be broadcast live across the United States and worldwide.
