Advanced Direct Security Releases “How Safe Is Your City?” Infographic

The latest infographic from Advanced Direct Security looks into cities across the country to determine which have the highest crime rates. Advanced Direct Security hopes that the infographic will not only educate homeowners and people across the country about home security, but plans to use it as a helpful educational tool for salespeople selling home security. The infographic reveals statistics that could certainly be beneficial for all to know.

While crimes in the United States were down as a whole in 2011, this is not reflected in all cities. Violent crimes such as aggravated assault, forcible rape, robbery, and murder are evaluated in the infographic using information that was offered by the FBI and the National Insurance Crime Bureau. A violent crime is defined as when an offender threatens or used violent force upon their victim and includes violent acts and violence as a means to an end (robbery).

Some of the statistics in the infographic reveal that the top three most dangerous cities are: St. Louis, Missouri, Flint, Michigan, and Detroit, Michigan. It also shows that 61% of violent crimes are aggravated assault, and in Flint, Michigan there is a 1 in 166 chance of aggravated assault.

Again, these numbers are useful to everyone especially those living in the cities that are more commonly known for violent crime, but Advanced Direct Security salespeople can also use these facts in order to help people in those areas faced with more crime.

“When someone calls in to inquire about home security in a particular area it behooves a salesperson to be familiar with the crime statistics of that area. It reassures the customer and allows for the appropriate home security technology to be utilized,” said the infographic designer.

What the numbers help to reveal is that home alarms are becoming more and more important to those who are looking to protect themselves and their possessions. Other key findings displayed in the infographic include:

  •     Bridgeport, Connecticut is the most dangerous city for forcible rape with a 1 in 1,677 chance.
  •     In 2010 there was a motor vehicle stolen every 40 seconds according to the FBI Uniform Crime Reports.
  •     Per capita, Jackson, Mississippi had the most burglaries last year.

With data like the above, it is clear why many people are turning to Advanced Direct Security in search of home security solutions for their personal safety. The home security supplier hopes that this infographic will not only educate in order to promote home security, but to allow people to be more aware of their surroundings and stay safe altogether.

“The startling truths might open up eyes of homeowners across the country who might believe that they are safer than they actually are,” adds the designer. “That is one point of the infographic because it is simple to read and understand unlike so many crime reports that are offered by the FBI and the like.”
