Today at the 120th Conference of the American Psychological Association (APA), Pearson announced the public beta of Q-interactive™, an evolutionary tool for professionals involved in the administration of psychological, neuropsychological and other diagnostic interactive assessments. This new solution leverages the power of tablet technology to provide qualified clinicians with 24-hour access to a portable, easy-to-use assessment system that allows them to select, administer and score clinical assessments. With this technology, clinicians can now focus their attention on capturing and recording critical client behaviors and nuances that are crucial to successful assessment and treatment, rather than on test administration.
“With Q-interactive, Pearson is combining the world’s most advanced and widely used clinical assessment tools with the portability and immediacy of mobile technology,” said Aurelio Prifitera, Ph.D., group president and CEO of Clinical Assessment at Pearson. “A comprehensive digital platform, Q-interactive allows clinicians to create client-centric test batteries at both the instrument and subtest level, improves administration accuracy and speed, provides real-time scoring and allows for unheard-of flexibility – all in a few simple taps. It will truly revolutionize the assessment experience for both clinicians and clients.”
Q-interactive streamlines the entire assessment process. Clinicians are able to create client profiles with contact information and medical histories, choose and develop assessment batteries, and review scored data through a secure web-portal. Administration occurs using two digital tablets that “talk” to each other via Bluetooth connection. The clinician uses one to administer instructions, record and score responses, take notes and control visual stimuli. The client uses the other to view and respond to stimuli. Clinicians who are qualified to administer the WAIS®-IV, WISC®-IV, CVLT®-II, CVLT®-C or D-KEFSTM are eligible to participate in the public beta of this new assessment delivery tool prior to its release in October 2012.
Clinicians who participated in an earlier pilot of Q-interactive reported reductions in time spent on test administration and scoring of more than 20 percent, as well as enhanced ability to focus on the client when designing and administering a battery of tests and the ease of use enabled through its intuitive design.
