Given the complexity of today’s cancer care and new research emerging in the field, this board has the tremendous opportunity to educate people with cancer, such as mesothelioma, about their treatment options.
Dallas, TX (PRWEB) August 03, 2012
The NCCN has selected Russell Budd, president and managing shareholder of Baron and Budd, to sit on the Foundation Board. The Foundation Board is the charitable affiliate of the National Comprehensive Cancer Care Network® (NCCN®), a nonprofit alliance of 21 of the world’s foremost cancer centers.
Founded in 2010, the NCCN Foundation is chaired by Sam Donaldson and has a mission of translating the NCCN Clinical Practice Guidelines in oncology (NCCN Guidelines™) into patient-centered materials. The Foundation seeks charitable support for efficient circulation of the NCCN Guidelines for Patients ™ and the translation of these materials into multiple foreign languages.
As president and managing shareholder of Baron and Budd since 2002 and shareholder of the firm since 1985, Mr. Budd oversees one of the nation’s biggest plaintiffs’ firms and has devoted his career of over 30 years to defending the rights of individuals, communities and municipalities. Remarkably, Mr. Budd has played a substantial national role in protecting the rights of individuals injured by asbestos exposure and other cancer-causing agents, which has been known to cause mesothelioma, and water contaminants such as MTBE.
“Given the complexity of today’s cancer care and new research emerging in the field, this board has the tremendous opportunity to educate people with cancer, such as mesothelioma, about their treatment options. I am honored that the NCCN Foundation has made the visionary step of inviting an attorney to serve on their board and hopeful that together we can address the many needs of cancer patients,” said Russell Budd.
Mr. Budd has a well-known history of service and charitable activity. He was awarded the esteemed Harry M. Philo Award Trial Lawyer of the Year Award from the American Association for Justice (AAJ) in 2010, presented in appreciation for his dedication to protecting the rights of people in the civil justice system. Three years earlier he was awarded the prestigious Wiedemann Wysocki National Finance Council Award from AAJ for his dedication to the legal field and all he has done to better the civil justice system.
