It would be good advice, says author Polly McBee Hutchison, not to land on her bad side. When asked of the inspiration for her 2011 book, “On Wings of Pegasus: A Romantic Mystery” (published by Trafford Publishing), Hutchison spoke one word: revenge.

“I wanted to get even with someone, and so I killed him in this book,” says Hutchison, before joking, “Beware, don't get on the bad side of an author.”

Now, with a renewed marketing push for “On Wings of Pegasus,” Hutchison is reminding book lovers of the engaging qualities of a good revenge novel.

On Wings of Pegasus” tells the story of Judy Evers, who leaves the prairies and distant mountains of Wyoming to escape a degrading relationship. “Vowing to never allow herself to be hurt again, Judy moves to San Diego,” tells Hutchison. “However, on her new job she finds herself being drawn to Bic, a co-worker. When their boss is murdered, Judy finds herself the main suspect. Trying to unravel the mystery she discovers there is no one she can trust, especially Bic!”

Hutchison’s fast-paced novel paints a picture of mystery and intrigue, yet, at the conclusion of each conflict in the story, she shows how her heroine sticks to her principles.

“It is important to stick to your own values,” notes Hutchison. “It’s like that old saying, ‘To your own self be true.’”
