Poole is a fantastic prospect for business start-ups. A strong services sector and an emerging tourism market combine to make a healthy economy with real potential for future growth.
Poole, UK (PRWEB UK) 4 August 2012
Seaside town Poole has had a strong start to the year with a record number of companies being set up in the first six months. There have been 908 new companies set up between January and July, beating any other first half of the year on record and showing significant growth since 2011 when 877 companies were formed during the same period.
In the 1960s Poole’s prosperity was fuelled by growth in the manufacturing sector. In the 1980s and 1990s the service sector experienced rapid expansion as many office-based employers relocated to the area. The manufacturing industry has declined in recent years, but the service sector remains a key factor in the strength of Poole’s economy.
Poole also has a growing tourist trade, with the Sandbanks beach being judged “almost perfect” by The Tidy Britain Group and consistently winning the EC Blue Flag, which rates beaches on water quality, safety, environmental education and information, the provision of services and general environmental management. Hotel occupancy rates are above the regional and national average, and the town has in place a Tourism Strategy that aims to “maintain and enhance the quality of Poole’s natural resources that are the foundation of the tourism ‘product’.”
