Herbert J. Rissel integrates personal experiences with pivotal historic and political events to give a comprehensive analysis of Hitler’s rise to power in his accessible new nonfiction, “From Hitler's Oppression to American Liberty: My Journey Through Personal, Political, Economical, and Historical Adventures” (published by AuthorHouse).
Concise and accurate, “From Hitler's Oppression to American Liberty” is careful to avoid unnecessary, lengthy passages as it details approximately 1,200 years of history up to and including World War II. The result is Rissel’s 128-page, true story that is short and easy to read with no boring fillers.
An excerpt from “From Hitler's Oppression to American Liberty”:
“I was born in Germany and had to grow up to understand WHY History took a course that influenced the whole world.
WHY did I end up becoming a proud citizen of the United States of America, and the most convinced believer in the democratic system?
WHY was Adolph Hitler, once my Leader (Fuehrer) and probably the biggest criminal of all times, possible in a civilized society, dominated by democratic world powers that just had defeated the country, which eventually made him the ‘FUEHRER’?”
Readers will gain an appreciation for America’s liberties as Rissel recounts the grim realities of life under Hitler’s regime.
About the Author
Herbert J. Rissel was born in Germany in 1931. He lived through and suffered from Hitler's totalitarian regime, including World War II, and his young life was interwoven with the political and war events of that time. During the war, he spent almost three years in a Nazi camp without his parents’ influence and was subjected to Nazi propaganda and indoctrination. After the war, Rissel completed high school and pursued a career in mining engineering after graduating in 1958 with a master’s degree. A successful professional life led him to fill managerial and executive positions. In 1975, he emigrated from Germany to the United States and became a U.S. citizen in 1982. In spite of setbacks and failures, Rissel believes he has achieved the American Dream and lives in retirement in Pennsylvania.
