Indian Street Food Comes To Uxbridge

Dost Indian Street Food, the newest restaurant from Home Counties based Spice Merchant Group, has opened at 61 Belmont Road, Uxbridge.

Since opening in July, Dost has brought the joy of Indian street food to the people of Uxbridge. Located on the Belmont Rd site of the former Masala Indian Restaurant, part of the Spice Merchant Group, the restaurant has been given a brand new identity and lease of life as ‘Dost’.

Why Street Food?

Indian street food is something Uxbridge has never seen before and the lean towards a more informal dining experience is obvious. Restaurants offering lighter bites continue to draw in the crowds and provide visitors with a laidback, social atmosphere.

“Dost aims to break out of the traditional Indian restaurant stereotype and do the same for Indian food” says restaurant manager, Ashu Goswami on the venture.

Street food itself has strong roots in India and is an extremely flexible type of cuisine which can fit in with people’s busy day to day lives. It’s quick, tasty, relatively low priced and can be eaten at any time of day – snacks, lunch or dinner. This makes it a perfect fit for the bustling city of Uxbridge.

Inspired By India, Inspired By Bollywood

Visit Dost and take note of the colourful walls, vibrant Indian themed wall art and Bollywood posters which reflect an exciting personality. The restaurant is light and airy, the seating comfortable and the air filled with the sounds of live Indian radio.

Dost = Friend

The word ‘Dost’ is a Hindi translation of ‘Friend’ and the idea of friendship is echoed throughout the Dost dining experience. From the warm, welcoming and friendly staff (affectionately known as ‘Wallahs’ and ‘Wallis’) to the street food designed for sharing, Dost encourages you to sit back, relax and enjoy being part of the family with your friends or loved ones.

Dost & The Community

Dost is keen to strengthen ties with the community, including local businesses within the town. The restaurant is already being used as a business meeting spot and also caters for this market via the provision of lunch boxes for takeaway or delivery.

Open 7 days a week, from 11:30am - 10:30pm, Dost is open for lunch, dinner and snacks throughout the day. If you would like to find out more, or if you wish to schedule an interview, please call Ashu Goswami on 01895 25 29 25. Visit the Dost website at
