Celebrities Join Sturgis Buffalo Chip Legends Ride® For Charity During Motorcycle Rally

Neal Schon of Journey joins Sturgis Buffalo Chip Legends Ride® to benefit Special Olympics and the Sturgis Motorcycle Museum & Hall of Fame.

The Sturgis Buffalo Chip® welcomes celebrities from the world of music, film and motorcycling to the 5th annual Legends Ride® on Monday August 6, 2012 to kick off the start of the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. Celebrities such as famed guitarist Neal Schon for the rock band Journey, renowned film and television actress Kristy Swanson, legendary motorcycle daredevil Robbie Knievel and iconic custom motorcycle builders Arlen, Cory and Zack Ness will be joining the hundreds of riders at the event in support of the Black Hills Special Olympics and the Sturgis Motorcycle Museum & Hall of Fame. The Legends Ride® has raised more than $240,000 for the local charities since its inception four years ago. 100% of riders contributions go to benefit programs such a new buss and fuel for the Special Olympics travel needs. Taking part in the Legends Ride® for first time this year is avid motorcyclist and famed guitarist Neal Schon of the legendary rock band Journey. Neal will help lead the Legends Ride as it departs Deadwood on a 55-mile guided tour of the scenic canyons of the Black Hills to the Sturgis Buffalo Chip for a reception. After the ride and catered reception, Neal Schon and Journey will take over the main stage of the Buffalo Chip to unleash their hits such as “Wheel In the Sky,” “Anyway You Want It” and “Don’t Stop Believing” on the Chip crowd.

“The Legends Ride is a great opportunity to spend the day on my bike with some good friends, and fans for a great cause,” says Neal Schon.

The Knievel name is known round the world. Robbie Knievel has carried on the legacy of his family name by thrilling international audiences with record setting daredevil motorcycle jumps. Back for another year at the Buffalo Chip and with the Legends Ride®, Robbie in looking forward to a day where he can just ride and enjoy himself with fans.

“There is nothing I like more then to get out and ride,” say Daredevil Robbie Knievel. “I love going on the Legends Ride as it gives me the chance to have fun with other riders who come to the Black Hills each year to get away from it all. Knowing that the funds raised here go directly to local charities is truly a great feeling.”

Acclaimed actress Kristy Swanson is a regular visitor of the Sturgis Buffalo Chip campground and entertainment complex during the Rally.

“I am very excited for another year at the Buffalo Chip. As my husband and I always stay at the Chip during the rally, we get to keep the fun rolling all week,” says film and TV actress Kristy Swanson. “I am looking forward to Legends Ride and the unveiling of the new Black Hills Special Olympics bus. It is wonderful see all the good of this event put to action.”

Motorcycle royalty, the Ness family will also be on hand again for the Legends Ride® on Monday August 6, 2012. With 3 generations of custom bike building history Arlen, Cory and Zack Ness know where to go to kick off the Sturgis Rally in style.
