Bluemont, VA (PRWEB) August 01, 2012
Boulder Crest Retreat, a 37- acre privately-funded Loudoun County facility with accommodations and recreational therapeutic services aimed at helping wounded warriors and their families relax and reconnect, has just received an in-kind donation of all wood-alternative decking and railing materials from Trex Company in Winchester, Va.
Boulder Crest Retreat, a non-profit organization, is under construction on the private land that Ken Falke and his wife donated in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. When completed next summer, it will offer wounded warriors and their families an opportunity to enjoy a cost-free vacation in a beautiful rural environment. Ken’s vision is to make Boulder Crest Retreat a respite from the stress of clinical hospital environments and rehabilitation treatments these wounded warriors live in on a daily basis by offering first class accommodations and a variety of outdoor therapeutic activities onsite.
“I consider in-kind contributions as important as cash contributions,” said Ken Falke. “With the generous donation of high-performance Trex decking and railing products for the outdoor living spaces of the four cabins, not only do we advance another step towards final completion but we reduce our long-term maintenance costs on these buildings. Using the best decking materials in the world from Trex eliminates future upkeep and repairs typically associated with traditional wood,” he explained.
“It is an honor for Trex and our employees to be associated with such a high-profile project that benefits men and women who have served our country, especially one right here in our own backyard,” said Ron Kaplan, Chairman, President and CEO, Trex Company, Inc. “We are greatly impressed with the mission and leadership of Boulder Crest Retreat and are proud to be a part of this project.”
Our nation's wounded warriors (typically 24 years old and making $2,000 per month) come from communities across the United States and often end up in military hospitals around Washington, DC. Once released from inpatient care, they are assigned to outpatient Warrior Transition Units (WTIs), often spending up to three years in rehabilitation. With so many of them feeling isolated and depressed, Boulder Crest Retreat will offer a pleasurable rural reprieve with their families.
