The characters battle their personal demons and temptations, revealing their insecurities and weaknesses as their stories unfold.

Fleeing from her husband’s destructive behavior is a final, drastic solution for Rosemary, a woman with her own issues who can’t put up with the psychological abuse anymore. “It seemed the more she cared for Thomas, the more he tortured her, certain that she would be driven away,” the author writes in this compelling new novel that examines the psychological dynamics of relationships built on power and control. Rosemary and her young daughter Kimberly face an uncertain future, fueled only by this downtrodden woman’s desire to recover and flourish.

“Riding the Storm” employs storytelling to tackle emotionally charged issues facing society: domestic abuse and violence, sexuality, chemical abuse and addiction, homelessness and family turmoil. The characters battle their personal demons and temptations, revealing their insecurities and weaknesses as their stories unfold. Rosemary and Thomas break up and make up again and again, existing in a co-dependent state that shows both their love for each other and their fear when it all goes wrong. In the end, they must determine if they can overcome their difficulties and move toward healing to rebuild their relationship and become a true family.

Author Amanda Lewis offers insights into broken relationships from her perspective of being trained in traditional and nontraditional forms of therapy, as well as personal experience. Lewis is busy working on two other books.
