New social networking platform SpoonerSpot.com is currently undergoing a major overhaul to its existing platform. The social media site, which allows users to share information about their favorite places throughout the world, has been in various stages of live development since March of 2012. The company has used this time to understand trends in usage among its users, and is now translating that information into a more effective design, layout and experience for the SpoonerSpot community.

SpoonerSpot.com was originally conceived to be a new way for users to share great deals in their cities. The site, powered by Google Maps, gave users a unique method of clicking on their favorite businesses and leave tips for others to use in the future. The idea continued to evolve, eventually dropping the discount focused premise, and quickly turned into the trending social media website that it is today. The current platform allows users to share any place in the entire world with their followers, whether it be important memories, favorite places or, as the original idea suggests, even information on discounts at local businesses.

Since its inception SpoonerSpot has allowed a variety of users to take part in the site’s development. Users can register an account at SpoonerSpot.com, and from there can Spot new locations, discuss the Spots of other users, or, as the development team has hoped, offer feedback on ways to improve the site. This feedback has proven to be critical for SpoonerSpot’s continued growth, as a common theme of SpoonerSpot has been praise for its purpose and criticism of certain elements regarding user interface.

Feedback has been put to positive use by SpoonerSpot’s team, who is currently undergoing a major overhaul to key functionalities within the SpoonerSpot platform. Through significant research, testing, design and discussion the development team for SpoonerSpot.com is diligently piecing together a user interface that meets the needs and desires of the current SpoonerSpot community as well as the expectations of the average social networking user.

“It’s important to us that users have a clear grasp of how to use SpoonerSpot from the very first time they sign in,” said Bijan Safi, founder and CEO of CitySpoon Inc., SpoonerSpot’s parent company. “Thanks to the help of our users and our development team we’re constantly moving closer to the best SpoonerSpot.com yet!”

The rollout for the new and improved SpoonerSpot.com will be happening within the next few months. As plans move closer to reality a firm date will be announced from the SpoonerSpot team. New users are still encouraged to sign up and start Spotting at SpoonerSpot.com, where they can get a feel for the site’s scope and start building followers. Businesses are also encouraged to begin incorporating SpoonerSpot.com into their online marketing mix, and SpoonerSpot’s team is offering special promotional opportunities for these businesses as well.
