Livesay & Myers, P.C. was honored to become a food and hole sponsor at the 27th Annual Bull Run Kiwanis Golf Tournament on August 6, 2012. Additionally, the firm sponsored a foursome to play in the event.
The golf tournament, which is held at Evergreen Country Club in Haymarket, Virginia and sponsored by Dudley Martin Chevrolet, is an extremely prestigious event and one of the largest fund raisers of the year for the Bull Run Chapter of the Kiwanis Club.
It was a fun and enjoyable day of golf complimented by great food, people, and weather. Ultimately, twenty-two four person teams turned out to support Kiwanis in its mission to serve youth in the local community.
“We like to give back to our local community in any way we can, particularly in helping our youth,” said Livesay & Myers partner James Livesay, a former member of the Manassas Chapter of the Kiwanis Club. "What sets Kiwanis apart from other civic organizations and clubs is the primary focus of making a positive impact in the lives of the youth in our local communities," added Ben Griffitts, an associate attorney with the firm and a current member of the Manassas Chapter.
The mission of the Kiwanis International and its many Kiwanis Clubs is to serve children and youth around the world, by (1) improving quality of life directly through activities that promote health, education, and welfare of youth and (2) encouraging leadership and service by sponsoring youth service clubs.
Kiwanis uses funds raised by events like the Bull Run Kiwanis Golf Tournament to assist the community in various ways, such as sheltering the homeless, feeding the hungry, and caring for the sick and disadvantaged.
