Here is the new really big problem---If the metal on metal hip implant has failed we now worry about blood poisoning from cobalt, or chromium. Elevated levels of cobalt, or chromium in a persons blood stream could cause renal failure, or liver damage
(PRWEB) August 14, 2012
The US Drug Watchdog says, "There could be a deadline of August 2012 to get all recipients of the recipients of the DePuy ASR to the federal court in Ohio, and we do not want any recipient of the DePuy ASR stuck on the curb-holding the bag for a severe problem that should not be their's. Of the approximately 40,000 recipients of the recalled DePuy ASR hip implant, only about 4000 US citizens have been identified by the US court handling the cases related to this defective hip implant, and we are determined to do everything possible to get every recalled DePuy ASR hip implant recipient identified to the best possible law firms-but we need recipients to act now." DePuy hip implants are failing, or have failed at an unacceptably high rate. As a result there was a recall on this hip implant device in August of 2010. The US Drug Watchdog is urging family members of hip implant recipients, who received a hip implant between 2005, and mid 2010, to ask if the hip implant was an DePuy ASR. The US Drug Watchdog says, "If you, or a loved one has had a hip replacement involving the recalled DePuy ASR metal-on-metal hip implant, regardless if it has already failed, or not, please call us immediately at 866-714-6466." http://USDrugwatchdog.Com
Important Note from the US Drug Watchdog, "The average age of the typical DePuy ASR recipient we talk to is about 53 years old. There is a pretty even split between men, and women. What has us most worried is we are not hearing from older recipients-especially those in their 60's, or 70's. To repeat-we need family members of anyone receiving a hip implant between 2005, and 2010 to ask if it was a DePuy ASR? We fear many older US citizens do not want to go through the ordeal of a hip implant surgery-so they say nothing. Here is the new really big problem---If the metal on metal hip implant has failed we now worry about blood poisoning from cobalt, or chromium. Elevated levels of cobalt, or chromium in a persons blood stream could cause renal failure, or severe liver damage." http://USDrugWatchdog.Com
The US Drug Watchdog indicates symptoms of the recalled ASR DePuy hip implant failure include:
- Pain in the Hip Region
- Problems While Walking or The Inability to Walk
- Swelling of the Hip
- General Discomfort
- Lack of Flexibility
- Elevated levels of cobalt, or chromium in the hip implant recipients blood.
The US Drug Watchdog is the premier defective medical device, or recalled drug watchdog in the United States. The group says, "We want to make certain all ASR DePuy hip implant victims get to the actual trial law firms or attorneys that have the best record in achieving superior results for their clients. In our opinion, the settlements, or compensation related to the recalled DePuy ASR metal-on-metal hip implant will be significant, and because of the high failure rate, we think it is vital to get every DePuy ASR recipient identified, regardless if this specific hip implant has started to fail, or not."
