Crossmedia is the First Media Agency Recognized as an Ad Age Small Agency of the Year

The independent media agency brings home the award, and history, from the Ad Age Small Agency Conference in Minneapolis.

The 2012 Advertising Age Small Agency of the Year awards turned out to be big for Crossmedia. With hundreds of agencies in the running, Crossmedia took home silver for the Northeast region. It was also the first time in the history of the competition that a media agency was honored. The award recognizes “the power of nimble, creative and independently minded” agencies with 150 or fewer employees.

“Since Crossmedia was founded, we have always believed in the power of holistic and collaborative communications planning,” said co-founder Kamran Asghar. “We’re responsible for the line that connects brands and people, and that line represents media’s job of delivering participatory, creative and accountable communications. For a media shop to win in such a creatively driven competition is amazing. It re-affirms our belief about how media can and should be done today.”

Ad Age cited Crossmedia’s double digit growth and 14 new client wins as highlights. Additional acknowledgement was given for their collaboration with creative agencies and commitment to integrating paid, owned and earned media.

"The creative ideas and the strategic thinking we are seeing out of the small agency community is highly impressive," said Ad Age Agency Editor Rupal Parekh, one of the judges. "The work these shops are doing is original, unexpected and above all has a huge impact on their clients' bottom lines.”

Award winners are selected from hundreds of U.S. and international agencies that are majority-independent owned, or at least 51 percent privately-held. The editorial staff from Advertising Age and Creativity judged the entrants.
