"My titles inspire the next generation to attend college," says author Amy Hammond.

Tampa, FL (PRWEB) August 04, 2012

The author of the popular collegiate children’s books When I Grow Up, I’ll Be A Gator and When I Grow Up, I’ll Be A ‘Nole will add three officially licensed books to her growing collection in September 2012. When I Grow Up, I’ll Be A ‘Vol, When I Grow Up, I’m ‘Bama Bound and When I Grow Up, I’ll Be A Tiger feature young protagonists who declare their zeal for the University of Tennessee, The University of Alabama and Louisiana State University, respectively.

“My aim is to expose youth to specific colleges early in life; I hope children read my books and make attending that university their goal,” author Amy Hammond says.

For Hammond, a University of Florida alumnus, her personal childhood goal of becoming a Florida Gator led her to Gainesville, Florida. When she realized years later that no inspirational children’s book existed to inspire her young son to aspire to attend her alma mater, she opted to write her own. Her Gator and Seminole books have since become favorites of the Mom set as holiday gifts, baby shower presents and graduation send-offs.

Written in lively verse, the books are a lively discourse on a young boy’s dedication to his chosen university and the lifelong bond he forms during his road as a “Super Fan.” The tomes feature college landmarks, take readers on a page-by-page ‘tour’ of each campus, and introduce children to different facets of college life. Officially licensed through the individual universities, they are realistic and inspiring.

“If a child closes my book and says, 'I want to go there,' I’ve done my job,” Hammond says. “My newest titles will inspire the next generation of Volunteers, Elephants and Tigers.”

A freelance writer who has authored five children’s books, Hammond lives in St. Petersburg, Florida. Her nonfiction and fiction writing has been featured in numerous magazine, print and online publications. Hammond’s books are available at MascotBooks.com and Amazon.com, in Barnes n’ Noble and at various online and brick and mortar retailers.
