"Child anxiety Is treatable. We have advanced the scope of behavorial health for children with an in-home therapy that works."
Charlotte, NC (PRWEB) August 04, 2012
Today marks a momentous day as two doctors scurry around their offices helping one patient after another with all kinds of mental health challenges. You might say, "What makes that special?"
Actually, behind the scenes they are also helping anxious kids around the world through the use of their award-winning program called Turnaround, Turning Fear Into Freedom. This program is only sold online through social media.
Dr. Christopher McCarthy approached Dr. David Russ with an idea about creating an innovative treatment series for child anxiety back in 2008. Dr. Russ was immediately interested since his own daughter struggled with anxiety attacks and there was no in-home therapy available at that time. The doctors developed a series of audio scripts and characters based on Cognitive Behavioral Treatment (CBT) delivered in an imaginary setting - of all things, a hiking trip. The listening child bonds with each character, learns what anxiety is, and finds hope and courage to overcome their fears.
Healthcare statistics have child anxiety on the rise with 1 in 7 families affected in the US alone. Many are left untreated as the stigma of anxiety continues.
Their new mom-friendly website is launched today to better serve those families interested in child anxiety, when and how to get help, and to explore alternatives when nothing else works. Social media outlets such as Facebook and Twitter have successfully spread the word with 400% increase in viewership.
ITR plans to introduce new programs, such as a Faith-Based version of Turnaround in fall of 2012, and a Teen Version summerof 2013 - each as online exclusives.
