PeopleFirst Homecare in San Diego offers a wide range of healthcare services for medical care and rehabilitation at home

CareSouth Homecare Professionals, a leading provider of homecare in the San Diego area, is changing its name to PeopleFirst Homecare to reflect its partnership with PeopleFirst Homecare and Hospice.

The CareSouth location in San Diego is one of five CareSouth locations in California acquired by subsidiaries of Kindred Healthcare, Inc. in April 2011. CareSouth continues to operate home health agencies in seven states outside of California. PeopleFirst HomeCare and Hospice, a subsidiary of Kindred Healthcare, is a growing provider of hospice, palliative, durable medical equipment, private duty and homecare services with approximately 50 locations in eight states.

“We decided that we could become a more effective, streamlined organization by consolidating our names,” said Stephanie Phillips, Director of Operations for PeopleFirst Homecare in San Diego. “But that will be the only change. CareSouth’s highly skilled workforce, caring culture and excellent management team will remain in place.”

PeopleFirst Homecare in San Diego offers a wide range of healthcare services to cover most patient needs for medical care and rehabilitation at home. Its services include skilled nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy. One of its programs, called Telehealth, allows individuals to check their vital signs daily and the readings are sent automatically to PeopleFirst. The PeopleFirst staff review the results to determine if the patient needs immediate medical assistance or if any changes are required in their ongoing treatment. By observing changes on a day-to-day basis, Telehealth can potentially lower the cost of health care by reducing emergency room visits and hospital admissions. PeopleFirst Homecare has specialized programs for total knee orthopedic rehabilitation, total hip orthopedic rehabilitation, diabetes disease management, stroke rehabilitation, wound care management, pulmonary disease management and cardiovascular disease management.
